Manufacturing Projects

During my undergraduate studies, I completed several hands-on manufacturing projects that introduced the fundamentals of machining. I developed a solid foundation in manual machining which has given me a stronger appreciation for craftsmanship and more modern automated manufacturing.

Clock Project

The clock consists of 5 hand machined parts. An aluminum base, brass pen holder, brass nut, steel pencil holder, and a polycarbonate clock face. This project was graded under tight tolerances, some as small as 0.005".

Screwdriver Project

The screwdriver project consists of two screwdriver types. The first being a forged steel flathead with an aluminum handle. The tool rod was forged and shaped by hand, and the alumium handle was turned and knurled with a lathe. The second screwdriver is an injection molded Phillips head.
